Biographical note
Rüdiger Lautmann, born 1935, Dr. phil. Dr. jur., was professor of general sociology and sociology of law at the University of Bremen from 1971 to 2010. His research areas are social theory and the topics of law and crime, gender and sexuality. Publications (selection): „Soziologie der Sexualität“ (2002); „Migranten in der deutschen Polizei“ (2010); „Justiz – die stille Gewalt“ (Neuausgabe, 2011); „Was ist Homosexualität? (2014); „Strafrecht und Soziologie“ (2014); „Sexualität und Strafe“ (2016); „Georg Simmel und die Gesellschaft der Gegenwart“ (2018); „Lexikon zur Soziologie“ (Neuausgabe 2020). I met Otthein Rammstedt in early 1968 at the Social Research Centre Dortmund. The very prosperous working atmosphere of this place brought about many cooperations and friendships. This continued at the Faculty of Sociology at the newly founded Bielefeld University. Two years ago, Hanns Wienold and I published a commemorative volume for Rammstedt's 80th birthday, under the sign of Georg Simmel. The last time I visited Rammstedt was in October 2019 in Mannheim.
