Résumé
Comparant la position de Pierre Desjardins avec celle de Goethe vis-à-vis des tendances musicales, modernes à son époque, le critique fait le procès des présupposés fondant leur jugement : trop de technique et pas assez de sentiments. Il dénonce l’appel de type jdanovien à l’autocritique des jeunes compositeurs et refuse que la musique doive être conçue en fonction des attentes moyennes du public.
Abstract
Comparing the attitude of Pierre Desjardins with that of Goethe regarding musical tendancies considered in his time to be modern, the author critically examines each of their presuppositions about too much technique and not enough sentiment. He rejects the appeal for self criticism (in the manner of Jdanov) among young composers, and he refuses to accept that music be conceived with respect to the average expectations of a listening public.
