Résumé
Une équipe de professeurs de géographie de l'Université du Québec à Chicoutimi vient de faire paraître les résultats d'une étude fouillée de leur région sous la forme d'un atlas du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Ce texte présente l'ouvrage : son histoire, son contenu et son originalité. Dans un contexte où l'utilité des atlas régionaux est remise en cause, les auteurs, malgré tout, sont convaincus que cet atlas répond à un besoin de la population, autant au niveau de l'enseignement et de la recherche qu'en vue de la planification du développement régional.

Abstract
A staff of geography teachers at the University of Québec at Chicoutimi presents the results of a thorough regional analysis in the form of an atlas of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. This paper explains its history, describes its contents and indicates its originality. In a context where the utility of regional at lasses is questioned, the authors are convinced that their Atlas responds to the needs of the population as well in the areas of teaching and of research needs as in those of regional planning.
