Politique éditoriale et éthique

Copyright and Redistribution

Creative Commons License

Copyright in the article is vested with the Author under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-No Derivative Works 2.5 Canada license http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.5/ca/. Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgment of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgment of its initial publication in this journal.

Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

Peer Review Process

All submissions are initially assessed by the Editors to ensure their appropriateness and adherence to the Journal and its author guidelines. Manuscripts deemed suitable are reviewed by at least two referees by way of a double blind review procedure. The Editors make final decision on articles.

Instruction pour les auteurs

Author Guidelines

The CJHE-RCES is an open-access publication of the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education and published English or French manuscripts. The Journal is financially supported by a Social Science and Humanities Research Council Aid to Scholarly Publication Grant, which covers publication costs. Therefore, as an open access journal, the CJHE-RCES does not charge authors a submission or article processing fee. Submission of a manuscript to CJHE-RCES entails that neither the manuscript nor any substantially similar manuscript has been published, is in press, or is under consideration elsewhere.

Format
Use a standard typeface and size (e.g., Times Roman 12 pt.) and double space throughout, including block quotations, references, and notes. Manuscripts are not to exceed 7,000 words, including tables references, and endnotes. Please provide an abstract of up to 250 words.

Style
Manuscripts must conform to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th Ed.). A basic template, available here, is suggested for submission. All tables should be in an editable format (i.e., not an image) using word-processing software.

Abstract & Title Page
All submissions should include a title page containing the manuscript 1) title, 2) an abstract (up to 250 words), and 3) 5-6 keywords. Please do not include author names in your submitted manuscript.
Once a manuscript is accepted for publication, authors will be asked to provide an abstract in both English and French.

Tables and figures
All tables and figures should be placed on a separate document. Placement of each table and figure within the text should be clearly marked within the text as "Place table X here".
Figures should have a resolution of 300 ppi to ensure legibility when printed. Whenever possible, include the original file that was used to create the figure (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, or Photoshop).
Ensure pattern (not colour) is used to distinguish portions of the figure, or used in the legend. While the colour version of the manuscript will be made available on the CJHE Open Journal System, some readers may only be able to print a black-and-white version of the manuscript, and figures need to be legible without colour.

Running head
A running head of up to 50 characters in length should be included in the manuscript.

References and citations
All references and citations must adhere to the APA 6th edition format. Sources cited within the text appear in parentheses after each citation and must give the authors name, year of publication. Enclose quotes of 40 words or less in double quotation marks in the text; indent quotes longer than 40 words in block format. Page numbers must be given for all direct quotations.

Endnotes
Footnotes are not allowed and endnotes should be minimal and be listed after the text and before the Reference section, having been marked within the text by superscript numerals.
