Goals

Recherches féministes is an interdisciplinary French-language scientific journal. The journal founded by Huguette Dagenais in 1988 is published by the Groupe de recherche multidisciplinaire féministe (GREMF) of the Faculty of Social Sciences in Université Laval.

Its main objective is to contribute to the advancement of feminist research by disseminating original results primarily from empirical research. Theoretical, methodological and epistemological essays, research notes, book reviews, innovative feminist practices, references and other useful research information are also published in the journal. The journal is for those interested in changes in gender relations and in knowledge creation.

Recherches féministes is an essential source of information for teaching, research and feminist action.

Recherches féministes publishes articles, research notes, action notes, book reviews, references and reports on major issues in the women’s movement. Each article goes through a peer review process. Two issues per year are published, in spring and in winter. Each issue is theme-based and also contains articles unrelated to the theme.

The journal is available in electronic format on Érudit and in hard copy at the journal’s office.

Editorial policy and ethics

Publishing Policy

Note that Recherches féministes is a French-language journal and that articles submitted must be drafted in French. Authors are also asked to comply with the following protocol.

• Texts sent to the journal must be gender-sensitive whenever possible. The length must be of 7 000 words, including references.
• On the first page, please write your name and address at the top left, and the title of the article at the top centre. Please send to revuerecherchesfeministes@ccb.ulaval.ca. Include a brief, 50-word biography per author. All tables and graphs must be inserted in the text body and not exceed the margins.
• In-text references must be placed in parentheses, with the author’s last name, the year of publication and the page number, as shown here : (Lavoie 1986 : 125), (Charbit et Léridon 1987 : 255). References must directly follow the closing quotes of a citation, before any other text or punctuation.
• A block quotation requires no quotation marks before or after the citation. Any changes to the letters or words of the original text must be indicated using square brackets, and any deletion of a passage of text must be represented by suspension points […].
• The complete list of references must be organized by last names of authors, and be double-spaced. All book and journal titles must be in italics, whereas titles of articles and chapters should be put between French quotation marks (but not underlined). You may base yourself on the examples given in the attached PDF.

Recherches féministes follows official French typographical rules. There should be a single space between words, after a period and after a colon. There should be a space before a colon and a percent sign, but not before a semi-colon, a question mark or an exclamation mark. For example, write « a single space after the opening quotation marks, and another before the closing one ».

NOTA BENE – The journal reserves the right to accept or refuse any article received. It is advisable to always keep a copy of the submitted article. The journal cannot be held responsible for publication delays. Any article or other text published by the journal engages only the authors’ liability.

Article Assessment Policy

Recherches féministes is one of the scientific journals funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC). Each text submitted is assessed by a committee of three external experts (meaning a peer review process).

Copyright Policy

The authors grant Recherches féministes and its beneficiaries the permission to edit their article in accordance with the journal’s requirements, thereby guaranteeing that the publication of the text will not violate the rights of others and that the authors are empowered to conclude this contract as the text’s authors or co-authors. As a contribution to Recherches féministes, the authors authorize the reproduction and the public dissemination of the text in electronic media, electronic databases and other similar media. The authors assign to Recherches féministes the right to authorize the reproduction and reprinting of the text in hard copy or electronic format, in all languages and for all countries. Finally, the authors assign to Recherches féministes and its beneficiaries and agree that all sums eventually produced – under current or future legislation by the publication and dissemination from Recherches féministes or by any other editor with the journal’s express consent – will be reinvested in the journal. However, it is understood that the authors themselves can reproduce their article’s text for academic or other purposes insofar as they indicate that the text was first published in Recherches féministes and that they provide a complete reference to this publication.

Plagiarism Policy

This journal is against all forms of plagiarism. The following are considered acts of plagiarism:

* Copying, fully or partially, others’ work and passing it off as their own.

* Copying, fully or partially, your own published works, without referencing the original publication (self-plagiarism)

Based on this policy and on the severity of known plagiarism, manuscripts could be rejected at any time during the process.

Self-archiving Policy

The authors are free to republish the official version produced by the journal provided that they indicate a reference to the journal.

Digital Archiving

The perennial archiving of Recherches féministes is ensured by Portico.
